Carl Fischer's Sunshine City Brass

Trumpeter Carl Fischer and his Sunshine City Brass headline this March outing for the Tampa Jazz Club. The band will also feature renowned saxophonist Mike MacArthur. Fischer, who most recently was the featured trumpet player in hit maker Billy Joel’s band, got an early start with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and, later, became the musical director for trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson. He’s also collaborated with Chick Corea, Sting, Diana Ross, and Paul Simon among many others. Fischer’s band, The Sunshine City Brass formed during the pandemic. They offer a blend of “northern and southern grooves, embodying the spirit of the Big Easy with a Big Apple energy.”
